A Large-Scale Putting Green That Defines STC’s Capabilities
Synthetic Turf Concepts is based in North Carolina, and that’s where the majority of our work takes place. But from time to time, a project comes along that’s big enough, detailed enough, and ambitious enough to justify going the distance. This 2,000 sq ft putting green installation in Savannah, Georgia was exactly that.
As demand grows for high-end, professionally built putting greens, more homeowners outside of North Carolina are starting to recognize the level of design, craftsmanship, and performance STC brings to each install. This project is a clear example of why.
Built for Performance, Not Just Looks
From the start, this green was designed to play like a true practice facility—not just a visual feature. The layout includes split-face green sections, detailed contouring, and two fully integrated turf bunkers. Every slope, break, and transition was shaped intentionally to challenge distance control, reads, and short-game creativity.
One of the defining elements of this project was the padded system installed beneath the putting surface. This allows the green to safely accept chip shots from 40+ yards out without damaging the turf or compromising performance. It transforms the space from a putting-only surface into a full short-game training environment.
Exceptional Design and Sculpting
Large putting greens demand more than flat space. They require vision, precision, and an understanding of how golfers actually use the surface. This install features sculpted undulations that flow naturally, creating realistic roll and multiple pin placements without feeling forced or artificial.
The turf bunkers were designed to mirror traditional sand traps visually while maintaining the low-maintenance benefits of synthetic turf. Clean edges, realistic shaping, and consistent texture give the entire green a polished, professional feel.
Why This Project Matters
Large-Scale Execution: 2,000 sq ft with complex shaping and features
Advanced Playability: Chip-ins, bunkers, and split-face green design
Low Maintenance: No watering, mowing, or seasonal turf repairs
Durability: Built to handle repeated impact and year-round use
Proven Reach: STC installs beyond North Carolina for the right projects
While STC’s focus remains North Carolina, projects like this show that quality travels. When homeowners want a serious putting green built the right way, they’re willing to bring in a team that understands both design and execution.
